Needed Advice on importing business

Hello

I've been wanting to start an electrical ,hardware and mechanical manufacturing business for a while now but I can't seem to think of a proper  setup.

Planning to start a new business in October. I'm staying in Toronto, Canada. As I'm new to the business, I would like to hear from the experts here.
Kindly share the tips so that I can start it well.

Two queries:
1.Registration of a business in Canada.
I have heard that the registration of a business in Canada in different from the other countries. Is it so? What are the procedures for it? Also, I would like to know the time it takes to complete the registration.

2.Advertising strategies
Is direct mail method a good way to attract local customers? Has anyone tried it? Also, we are discussing the design for the banner. We have searched for it,and also saw business teaser trailer but did not get any ideas. Saw one banner printer in Toronto but have not contacted them yet. Need your suggestions.

Suggestions and replies will be highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
