First of all, welcome to the Modern Analyst community!

As an ABAP Consultant you probably developed some good structured thinking skills.  And since you were a consultant you probably have some client interaction experience.

I would suggest that you consider moving into a technical analyst role first (e.g. Systems Analyst or IT Business Analyst).  At the same time consider getting some formal training in some of the core competencies required of a Business Analyst such as: requirement elicitation, requirements management & communication, facilitation skills, etc.
