Business Systems Analyst (POS Systems) Job in Calabasas, Los Angeles
The role of the Business Systems Analyst is to partner with our business and development teams to deliver functional system enhancements and technology solutions that drive efficiency and optimization of our retail operations. The successful applicant in this role is responsible for business and systems analysis functions supporting our retail systems. This individual will apply proven analytical, communication and problem-solving skills to help maximize the benefit of IT investments, turning functional business requirements into effective design solutions. This includes gathering and analyzing data in support of business cases, proposed projects, and systems requirements.
As an Information Technology professional you may be required to perform duties that include elevated privileges. As a trusted custodian to the Company’s sensitive information and/or systems you will be expected to maintain professional conduct and protect the confidentiality of any information to which you may have access. You will be expected to commit yourself to the highest standards of moral and business ethics.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Collaborate with project managers, solutions architects and project sponsors to determine project scope and how to execute multiple projects. Meet with decision makers, systems owners, and end users to define business requirements, and systems goals, and identify and resolve systems issues. · Collaborate in the planning, design, development, and deployment of new applications, and enhancements to existing applications
· Translate effectively captured requirements into ‘ready to code’ design specifications
Guide business partners in developing effective business processes and map to functional system design. Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems. Coordinate and perform in-depth tests, including system, integration, and customer acceptance, for modified and new systems, and other post-implementation support. · Determine POS interface strategies with ETL, ESB, legacy, and other systems.
Conduct research on emerging retail application development software products, languages, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts. Analyze and determine root-cause for reported system issues Utilize standard templates to accurately and concisely write requirement and functional specifications. Prepare and deliver reports, recommendations, or alternatives that address existing and potential problem areas in IT systems across the organization. Provide orientation to end users for all modified and new systems. Manage and track the status of requirements throughout the project lifecycle; enforce and redefine as necessary.
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor degree in the field of computer science or software engineering or equivalent, or a minimum of 8+ years equivalent work experience in an IT related field Minimum 5 yrs. proven experience in supporting/implementing retail POS systems Strong functional knowledge of Retail applications and POS systems required. (ex. Oracle Retail, Epicor, SAP Retail, etc.) Strong functional knowledge of retail merchandising and demand planning applications desired Proven experience in overseeing the direction, development, and implementation of software solutions. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected as part of the job performance and will need to rely on judgment and experience to accomplish goals. Strong knowledge of system and software quality assurance best practices and methodologies. Understanding and experience in project management and exposure to project management methodologies Understanding of Software Development Lifecycle methodologies as adopted by the organization. Flexible and adaptable in regards to learning and understanding new technologies. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to conduct research into software-related issues and products. Highly self-motivated and self-directed. Keen attention to detail. Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. Benefits Include:
