ANSWER

A logical data model is a graphical representation of data that is created or used by the organization, and associated rules governing the structure and relationships of that data. The logical model should use business names (following any established enterprise data or naming standards), and should be independent of any technology or physical design considerations. It typically includes the following information:

  • Entities (“tables”)
  • Relationships between entities
  • Cardinality – the numeric relationship between occurrences of two related entities
  • Attributes (“fields”) that are relevant to the project. (The logical data model does not include details such as data-types or foreign keys, since those are physical design considerations.)

Do your homework prior to the business analysis interview!

Having an idea of the type of questions you might be asked during a business analyst interview will not only give you confidence but it will also help you to formulate your thoughts and to be better prepared to answer the interview questions you might get during the interview for a business analyst position.  Of course, just memorizing a list of business analyst interview questions will not make you a great business analyst but it might just help you get that next job.
