Answer:

Understanding the resources that are available to the business analyst is paramount.  Most good interviewers will ask at least some questions to gauge the scope of your awareness of techniques, principles, and methodologies that are available to the business analyst even if they don’t expect you to know too much detail about them for the current position.  This shows that you are actively engaged in pursuing knowledge that will further your skills as a business analyst.

The Agile Extension to the BABOK® Guide was collaboratively developed by the Agile Alliance and IIBA.  It builds on the content of the BABOK® Guide as it was first developed by the IIBA and it further extends it to incorporate Agile Development principles.

The Agile Extension to the BABOK® Guide explains how the information within the BABOK® including knowledge areas, their associated activities and tasks, and the skills required to complete those tasks fit within the context of agile software development. It also emphasizes the important of business analysis practices within the context of agile methods.

The Agile Extension to the BABOK® Guide provides an initial overview for business analyst on agile methods. This includes:

  • An introduction to agile methods such as SCRUM an XP
  • An overview of agile lifecycles and workflow management methods such as Kanban
  • An overview of the business analysis techniques used by various agile methods
  • A mapping of agile techniques to BABOK knowledge areas

The Agile Extension to the BABOK® Guide is intended for both business analysts who are new to agile as well as for those that are experienced in agile methods.
